Photojojo Forums

The Photojojo forum is built with punBB.

This project involved a complete transformation of the punBB system to match the fun and intuitive style of Photojojo. I worked for Amit Gupta, creator of Photojojo, to bring his ideas into code.

Added features

"This or That" debate posts

In addition to regular posts, we incorporated a special kind of posts called "This or That" where posters get to raise a question or debate and the users can choose sides and offer their opinions.

Project Description
The "Sensing the Radio Sky" project developed a new portable planetarium program that will immerse an audience in the radio universe to give them a first hand experience with a part of the electromagnetic spectrum they might not otherwise ever be aware of. The program employs a radio view of the sky projected on a portable planetarium dome. The program is accompanied by a multimedia presentation that can be used beforehand in a lecture or class situation, or used in the portable planetarium itself.

The intellectual merit of the project unites students from different fields to bring a new view of the universe to the public. The radio sky project, developed with funding through the National Science Foundation, will have a large national and international impact. The programs the student teams develop will immediately impact the western North Carolina region where more than 50,000 students and general public will be visited with the portable planetarium in classrooms and public open houses. On a broader scale, portable planetariums have been sold in over forty-five countries around the world with an estimated 12 million individuals participating in portable planetarium programs each year.

My role in the project
Working with a team of three physics students, as well as two other multimedia students, I assisted in articulating the scientific information into digital mediums for the "Sensing the Radio Sky" project. This included working on a large cylinder which is used on the projector in a planetarium to project the radio night sky.

My primary responsibility, however, was the multimedia interface. Using the lesson plans provided by the physics students, I was in charge of organizing the material in an interesting and user-friendly manner. Complete with images as well as diagrams and schematics designed by myself and the other multimedia students, as well as interactive elements such as quizzes and games, the multimedia interface is an integral part of the final project.

While just a simple RSS feed, this app demonstrates all the elements necesarry to work with the Facebook developers platform, including a understanding of the Facebook API interface and its methods, FBML (Facebook Markup Language), and the PHP Client library designed for Facebook.
